Edward M. Obele, 1913-2001
Founder, Obele Oil Corporation
Ed Obele was an independent crude oil and natural gas Operator and explorer ("wildcatter") continuously for close to 50 years. His crude oil and natural gas experience with Obele Oil Corporation included exploration, discovery and production of crude oil and natural gas wells in 11 western states. He taught daughter Paralee everything there is to know about running an oil company.
Ed started our oil company in Denver, Colorado. The family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1965 where Ed and Carol continued to run the company for thirty-five years. In 1992 the family and Obele Oil Corporation relocated to Sedona, Arizona.
Paralee and Ed had six precious years of working together at Obele Oil headquarters in Sedona, Arizona.
Ed was born in Pierre, South Dakota, on December 26, 1913. He grew up on his fathers cattle and horse ranch in central South Dakota. Ed and his family lived in Phoenix for 36 years and moved to Sedona seven years ago.
In June 2000, Ed discovered a wonderful crude oil and natural gas field in Oklahoma one of his lifelong dreams.
Edward M. Obele, 87 years young, passed on peacefully in his sleep at his home in Sedona, Arizona, on May 26, 2001, surrounded by his family.
